Managed Care Projects Manager

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Systems Transformation, The Managed Care Projects Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing projects that assist organizations in their transition to Managed Care. This position will assist agencies statewide and nationwide in their transformation process towards recovery based service provision within a managed care environment.

Major Responsibilities/Activities: 

  • Develops, implements and manages assigned tasks within the MCTAC contract including data collection, developing and monitoring timelines for meeting deliverables;
  • Develops, implements and manages assigned tasks within other NYAPRS contracts;
  • Delivers training and technical assistance on recovery based services transformation and transforming to a managed care system;
  • Assists in the development and implementation of NYAPRS seminars and conferences;
  • Actively participates as a member of the Systems Transformation team to develop new ideas and initiatives;
  • Locates, identifies and writes grants for new services;
  • Develops new contracts and monitors assigned existing contracts;
  • Maintains required statistics and gathers and submits information and analysis to Director of Systems Transformation for preparation of reports;
  • Attends conferences and workshops as required to present material and new ideas and to stay current with trends in the field of recovery based systems;
  • Provides other duties as required or assigned.


  • Ability to multi-task; track record as creative thinker.
  • Experience and understanding of direct service provision and managed care is highly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in formal training and/or leading groups.
  • Facility with computers/technical equipment.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • BA/BS, and 5+ year's human services experience. Master's degree in human services preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
  • Lived experience with the mental health system preferred.
