Actress Amy Hill (HBO’s Enlightened, Arrested Development, 50 First Dates, Couples Retreat) will headline this year’s Laughter is the Best Medicine event on November 2, 2013 in Oakland, CA with comedienne Esther Goodhart as the host. This fundraising event aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and disabilities in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. The event will also feature musician Dave Tauler, comedian Jeanny Yang and Steve Lee, who self identifies as “the only disabled Asian comic in America.”
NAAPIMHA is pleased to co-sponsor this event with the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, the National Asian American Pacific Islander Empowerment Network and the Asian Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting mental health consumers and those with disabilities in the AANHPI community.
We hope to see those of you living in the Bay area at this fun event. For those of you not able to attend in person, you can support this event by buying a ticket that can be used to sponsor a local consumer or student who otherwise might not be able to attend. The cost is minimal and your support would mean a lot.
Donations of any size, are of course always welcomed!
We would also appreciate a blast to any of your social networks to help spread the word.
